About Me

Who I Am (In the Most Basic Sense): Jenny (Dunn) Pray

Where I Am: I’ve been spreading my radical Yankee ideals in the upstate of South Carolina since 2009.

Why I Write: In a lot of ways being a mom is, well, weird. Despite the fact that I think my daughters are the smartest, cutest, most amazing creatures on the face of the earth, there are times when I still can’t come to terms with the fact that I have three kids. (Three!) There was  a time – a long, long, time ago – when I was fun. I was fit. I was relatively organized. Now I’m just “Mommy”, and I refer to myself by that name so many times each day that the word “I” has basically fallen out of my vocabulary. I recently left my job as a teacher of seventh-graders to devote myself full time to these three maniacs, and it’s been a very emotional transition as I redefine who I am. I started writing this blog in 2013 as a way to reclaim some of who I used to be and to celebrate the person “mommyhood” has made me. I write for my own sanity. I write to connect with other moms who are going through it all with me, in other houses and with different kids. I write so they know they are not alone. I write to know I am not alone.
